MAIPP Dismisses Claim Najib Failed On Promise

BUTTERWORTH, Jan 16 (Bernama) — The Penang Islamic Affairs Council (MAIPP) today dismissed a claim in a political organ that Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak had failed to fulfill a pledge to provide a RM4.18-million allocation for the renovation and upgrading of and purchase of equipment for 28 mosques and 46 surau in the Permatang Pauh parliamentary constituency.

MAIPP president Shabudin Yahaya said Najib had actually kept his word given during the Permatang Pauh by-election last August whereby the Implementation Coordination Unit (ICU) in the Prime Minister’s Department informed the Penang State Development Office on Aug 26 last year on the approval of the special allocation.

However, the channelling of the allocation at the level of the implementing agency took time because it had to follow financial procedures prior to distributing the money to the relevant mosques and surau, he told reporters here.

Shabudin was commenting on a front-page report in Suara Keadilan (Jan 14-21) which claimed that Najib had lied and made an empty promise pertaining to the allocation of RM100,000 to mosques and RM30,000 to surau in the Permatang Pauh parliamentary constituency during the by-election campaign there last August.

He said all procedures on the channelling of the allocation had been completed by the implementing agency and the money would be distributed in stages from next week.

This is vote buying and rigging illegal practice. As usual EC seems taking no action. KT voters can accept whatever goodies BN government has given to you since the money is yours, but vote according to your soul.
