Gerakan is not just hopeless, they leaders are ballless too.

Penang Gerakan willing to work with Ahmad

GEORGE TOWN: Penang Gerakan is still “sore” with supporters of Datuk Ahmad Ismail for tearing down the photograph of party president Tan Sri Dr Koh Tsu Koon but is willing to work together for the sake of Barisan Nasional.

Its Youth chief Oh Tong Keong said they had no problems with Ahmad becoming Bukit Bendera Umno division chief again.

“This is a matter concerning Umno and we don’t want to interfere,” he said here yesterday.

He was commenting on reports that Ahmad was set to return as division chief at the end of the month after a hiatus of almost two years.

Oh said it was up to Ahmad if he wanted a good relationship with Gerakan.

Relationship between Ahmad and Penang Gerakan took a dive when his supporters tore down a photograph of Dr Koh, who is state Barisan Nasional chairman, in November 2008.

Ahmad was suspended for three years from the party in September 2008 after he allegedly made racist remarks during the Permatang Pauh by-election campaign.

His remarks led to disciplinary action against him by Umno.

Umno lifted Ahmad’s suspension in December last year and, subsequently, all 37 appointed and elected committee members of the division resigned en bloc to pave the way for his return.
