It’s still not too late to salvage Pudu Jail

UNESCO’s decision to add 11 of Australia’s convict sites to the World Heritage List should serve as a lesson for our ignorance on the “no value” Pudu Jail building.

Unesco considers these convict sites a major part of Australia’s story while we try our best to erase a historical prison from our history.

Can those responsible for the national heritage preservation explain to us why Pudu Jail is considered zero value compared with convict sites in Australia?

Maybe our government should salvage the remaining building and apply to be added to the World Heritage List.
