Atlas moth is becoming rare

I used to found this biggest “butterfly” in the world when I was a small boy in my village surrounding. My parents were quite superficial on its present by saying it was Tua Pek Kong’s devil carrier and small kids must be kept away from the creature.

The Atlas moth (Attacus atlas) is a large saturniid moth found in the tropical and subtropical forests of Southeast Asia, and common across the Malay archipelago. – Wikipedia.

Kew’s video on its life cycle is quite interesting.
