Bersih 2.0 Rally Field Report :: Marching from Jalan Bukit Bintang to KLCC

My last minute show up in this Bersih Rally 2.0 is let BN government knows and understands that iron-fisted crackdown on any peaceful demonstration is going to backfire BN

Police said only 5,000 people in the rally. That is definitely a lie. Police already arrested 1667 people which is 1/3 of demonstrators if the police number is proven correct.

Because the crowds are gathered in different locations, it’s quite difficult to estimate a reliable number. My best estimate is from 30,000 to 50,000 people. 30,000 people is still a great success because KL city lockdown has stopped many demonstrators from reaching KL city.

Myself only managed to break into KL city total lockdown at around 2.30 PM afternoon.

I entered KL city around 2.30 Pm after a road block in Jalan Pudu was “opened” and managed to join the rally from Bukit Bintang.

I am with non-Bersih yellow t-shirt at Bukit Bintang

Only a few people wearing Bersih T-shirt, some told me police confiscated Bersih T-shirt at LRT stations. I estimated the crowd is around 5,000 to 10,000 people, most of them are Malays as usual. There is a small percentage of Chinese, but only a few Indians join the rally.

The crowd crossing junction at Jalan Raja Chulan and Jalan Ampang, I was appeared in the video clip for a few moments.

All demonstrators are well-behaved during the marching from Bukit Bintang to KLCC. FRU came in to chase away demonstrators gathered in front of KLCC after 30 minutes of public speech by PKR Chua Jiu Meng. The police helicopter was hovering in the sky to make noise and disrupt the public speech.

I was tailing behind the police and FRU crack team to take some photos on their crackdown operation. After this I have a chit-chat with a few French tourists and explained to them what is Bersih rally. A plaincloth policeman tried to listen our conversation but his poor English skill does not help.

The police has never bothered to question me for wearing a non-Bersih double dragon yellow shirt. My present is to give Bersih rally 2 a moral support, not making troubles like UMNO Youth in the Penang Bridge.

The rally from Jalan Bukit Bintang to KLCC was peaceful and in order. Only a few demonstrators were arrested around KLCC for possessing contraband item, the yellow Bersih shirt.

A Chinese demonstrator was arrested by police.

I returned to Bukit Bintang after the rally in KLCC. On the way I met a PKR member who was escaped from the police arrest. His friend is a vice president of PKR Youth who was arrested earlier in KLCC.

Your pictures are great to tell us the happenings.

This is a beginning of a political tsuname to sweep BN into oblivion.

Amirul Sudin says:

I was there despite being hit by the tear gas of the police.
We go in peace but we are intimidated by the thugs of Perkasar & false Patriots.

The most important thing in Bersih’s Rally today is the unity of all races coming out together for a common cause. Never before has this country seen the people of all races, all walks of life joining hands to make Malaysia a better place. The generations of tomorrow will remember this day in history for what their predecessors have done for them.
