Pandamaran village Chief election :: 19.1 % voter turnout is very low

This poor turnout says something is amiss in this election. Sunday is a free day for most people, I wonder why they are no interested to take back their third rights.

PR should think about incentives to draw more voters come out to vote in future like giveaway 10 iPads in the lucky draw for those casting their votes.

KLANG: The lone woman candidate is the new Kampung Baru Pandamaran village chief.

Former Klang municipal councillor Low Mee See, 55, beat five other candidates by amassing 1,076 votes in the village polls on Sunday.

Another former Klang municipal councillor, Tee Boon Hock, came close when he garnered 835 votes.

The other four candidates lost their deposit of RM500 each when they failed to receive a minimum of one-eighth of votes.

The election on Sunday was part of a three-village pilot project to get villagers to elect their own chiefs.

Village chiefs are usually appointed by the state.
