There are three issues for giving out number plate WWW 15 free of charge to Liow after the bidding process.
1. Those bidders bid for number plate WWW 15 should take RTD to court for break of agreement.
2. RTD decided to give number plate WWW15 free does not mean it’s free, someone has to pay RM24,200 for the Treasury Department.
Does Transport Minister Kong Cho Ha is going to pay with his own pocket money?
3. Liow’s official ranking is higher than Johor Sultan and the King for him to entitle the free number plate?
Why Johor Sultan had to bid in an open bidding process? Why RTD cannot give number plate WWW 1 free of charge to Johor Sultan?
This double standard is an insult to the Johor Sultan and the King.
Apa lu cakap tentang perkara ini, Perkasa? Lu Pembela Melayu, diam-diam saja bila Sultan dan Agong dihina secara terbuka oleh MCA.
Itulah sikap sebenar Perkasa, anak buah UMNO.
Guan Eng questions Liow’s free car registration number
SEBERANG PERAI (June 7, 2012): DAP secretary general Lim Guan Eng is questioning the Health Minister Datuk Seri Dr Liow Tiong Lai’s free car registration number while the Sultan of Johor had to pay for his.
Liow had said on Twitter that he acquired the WWW15 registration number for free by the Road Transport Department (RTD) in a bid to quell the furore surrounding revelations that a bid of RM24,200 was placed for the plate reportedly in his name.
This is in contrast to Sultan Ibrahim Ismail Sultan Iskandar of Johor who won the tender for the registration number WWW1 with a bid of RM520,000 beating some 10,000 other bidders.
The first-term Penang chief minister said he was shocked as to why Liow could get the registration number without payment from the RTD.
“Why can he get (the number) for free?” he asked at a press conference today while on a tour of the Tasek Gelugor parliamentary constituency.
He was accompanied by State Public Works, Utilities and Transport Committee chairman Lim Hock Seng, Local Government and Traffic Management Committee chairman Chow Kon Yeow and Seberang Prai Municipal Council secretary Rozali Mohamud.
Lim said it was abuse of power if it was true that RTD had given the MCA deputy president an exception.
“(This is) double standard because he (Liow) can get but others can’t” he said and also urged Transport Minister Datuk Seri Kong Cho Ha to explain the matter.
