E-book for download after printed copies are fully sold?

I hope Zunar can either sell his comic book online in e-book format for RM2 or free download for advertisement version after 10,000 printed copies are fully sold.

The Altantunya and Scorpene scandals’ message will reach to more people with cheap or free electronic book download.

KUALA LUMPUR: A booklet titled “Hikayat Pak Monggol & Scorpene” will be launched to educate Malaysians on the Scorpene issue via a simple and witty comic style.

Jointly produced by local cartoonist Zunar and non-governmental organisation Suara Rakyat Malaysia (Suaram), the 32-page comic book will be launched on Nov 29.

The public is invited to the launch, which will be headlined by national laureate Datuk A Samad Said, at 8pm at the KL-Selangor Chinese Assembly Hall.

“This is part of an ongoing public education process, together with our roadshows across the nation on the Scorpene issue,” said Suaram secretariat member Cynthia Gabriel during the press conference on Thursday.

The Scorpene issue involves allegations of commissions paid during a RM7.3 billion deal for two submarines between Malaysia and French naval defence company DCNS.

The payment of commissions is illegal under French law. The deal was signed in 2002 when Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak was Defence Minister.

“(The booklet) contains a murder and allegations of bribery to politicians on both sides, in France and Malaysia,” Gabriel added.

Zulkiflee SM Anwar Ulhaque, popularly known as Zunar, said the storyline for the comic, which is entirely in Bahasa Malaysia, is based on facts.

The comic is based on information on the purchase of the submarines in mainstream newspapers and documents provided by a public prosecutor from France.

A total of 10,000 booklets have been printed and will be sold to residents in rural areas who may not already know about the issue. Each booklet is priced at RM5.
