Crackdown On Business Premises Run By Illegals In Offing
PUTRAJAYA, Feb 27 (Bernama) — The second integrated operation against illegal immigrants, launched on Jan 21, will soon focus on business premises controlled by foreigners in an effort to protect local traders.

Home Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi said the operation, which would be spearheaded by the Immigration Department, would weed out foreigners who use permits owned by locals or other means to conduct business.

“I will not give illegals any more warning. I’ll be joining enforcement officers in the operation to ensure that local residents are not robbed of their rights to conduct business.

“Foreigners doing business using licenses owned by locals and have no permits as employees or on social visit passes, please leave the country and stop your business activities,” he told a news conference here Thursday.

A total of 5,261 foreigners have been deported since the Home Ministry launched the second wave of the 6P integrated operations programme to flush out illegal immigrants last month.

Ahmad Zahid also called on local authorities to withdraw business licences that were rented out to foreigners.

About 350 illegal immigrants found loitering at the KLCC were hauled up on Sunday, he said, adding that their presence had caused uneasiness among shoppers.
