GPI ranked Malaysia is most peaceful country in South East Asia is not convincing, at least I know Singapore is more peaceful than Malaysia.
Frankly, I do not know crime is included in the GPI study or not, Malaysia no doubt is a peaceful land but definitely not so peaceful for our personal safety.
Najib is safe on the street with 10 armed bodyguards escorting him, but many average Joes are not so lucky like him.
A half of my family members suffered from the ever raising criminal problem on the street.
- My elder brother knocked out a Malay robber with a very hard punch when he tried to grab money my brother just withdrew from ATM in Johor Baru.
- My old mum gold necklace was snatched by a Malay (or may be an Indonesia) in a small town.
- Five Indian robbers armed with machete knifes robbed a mamak restaurant in Cheras and all its customers, including me. I narrowly escaped from the seizure and the only one not losing any valuable goods to that Indian gang.
Malaysia 19th Safest Country In The World – Global Peace Index
KUALA LUMPUR, July 22 (Bernama) — Malaysia has been ranked the most peaceful country in South East Asia, the fourth safest in the Asia Pacific behind New Zealand, Japan and Australia, and the 19th safest and peaceful out of 153 countries in the world.
This ranking by the Global Peace Index (GPI) 2011 is the first time that Malaysia has been placed that high since 2007, being one of the six non-European nations making the top 20 list. The other five were Iceland, New Zealand, Japan, Qatar and Australia.
The findings of the fifth edition of the survey by the Sydney-based Institute for Economics and Peace were announced at the end of May. In 2007, Malaysia was ranked 37th and fell to 38th place in 2008 and improved for the next three years from 26 in 2009 to 22nd in 2010 and moving up to 19th in 2011.

Date: 8/11/2006 06:28:56
Met the investigating officer today.Position is serious for RB.The 3 are highly implicated.RB’s case can be fought. There are redeeming features for him.But we need to meet Dato Seri as there are other looming issues at large. But not to worry. Salam > Shafee
Date: 8/11/2006 21:06:11
I have spoken to IGP. U can represent n meet RB in court.
Date: 9/11/2006 12:45:30
If RB’s remand is upto Sunday, does it mean that he has to be charged by Fri or be released? i hope it is looking better for him.
Date: 9/11/2006 13:11:23
3 things can happen.Firstly, they can ask for more time for detention. We will resist.Second, they have to release him by Friday or thirdly charge him by Friday.Police took him to his office for document search.Nothing incriminating found. Now they are recording stmt from him.Later search in house.Under control so far Dato Seri. Salam, shafee
Date: 9/11/2006 14:09:03
Dato Seri, Re RB need to meet up with you today. shafee
Date: 9/11/2006 14:17:47
630 pm at my house in PJaya this evening.

Date: 10/11/2006 15:14:31
Any news about RB ?
Date: 10/11/2006 15:19:40
Dato Seri, Negotiating for conditional release. If not police need 2 or 3 more days extention.I suspect its an exercise in public relation as they do not want public to think a VIP was given an easier time.Being a vip under these conditions is a liability.Otherwise we are on track according to plan. Salam, Shafee
Date: 10/11/2006 15:27:01
Thanks, he is very stressful according to his wife n would be a huge help if he could get a conditional release latest by sun.
Date: 10/11/2006 21:35:52
Saw the news on tv. RB was sent for DNA. Not sure it was neccessary.
Date: 10/11/2006 21:40:19
Unnessasary. But I think its on his lung infection. He has just been sent again to HUKM.Will know more later from inside contacts.
Date: 11/11/2006 03:17:56
Dato Seri, I was at ghkl ccu 4th floor.RB was admitted due to lung infection:mild pneumonia and asthmatic. This was the pain he was suffering in the chest and unexplained coughing for months. He is under an able physician Dato Dr Jeyaindran Sinnadurai(head of Dept of Medicine)Its good he is resting there than in the lockup.Dna was done to eliminate that he was at scene of crime(paternity can be ruled out as well).Need to see Dato Seri on some concerns. Salam. Shafee
Date: 11/11/2006 08:54:17
ANy chance of a release by sun ?
Date: 11/11/2006 08:58:14
Police should release him by then except that I think the police is disturbeb by Media and public pressure.Other factors need be coomunicated to Dato Seri in person. Investigation wise we are on track for release.
Date: 11/11/2006 09:26:52
It is clear that the Police will ask for extention t’row.I will resist strongly in view of the fact that the last few days investigation on RB have completed investigations that require RB’s presence in custody.Secondly, from yesterday the Police has done nothing much with him except to do the dna.Thirdly, I am concerned with the Police carelessness yesterday in allowing the 3 other suspects to be freely mixing and therefore tainting their subsequent stmnts as they could be ‘group coached’.But it also show Police no longer need to isolate the suspects.Even RB was handcuffed to the C/I. Salam . Shafee
Date: 11/11/2006 11:46:48

Date: 17/11/2006 10:50:30
Dato Seri, Its important you speak toYusoff Zainal Abidin as he knows the law a lot better in the Chambers.I am confident he is concerned with the negligible evidence agst Razak. The Raja Mahani and Tengku Ariston cases ought to be the guiding critera for AG.They cannot afford another scandallous loss by the Prosecution as in Norita, Ariston,Dato Balwant etc.
Date: 17/11/2006 11:39:46
OK will try. Meanwhile try to console the wife. She is hysterical.

Lawyers used to be trusted professionals, but that was history. My family was cheated by a lawyer in land transaction matter while my lawyer claimed that he lost my phone number for unable to communicate with me on legal matter. These Malaysian lawyers can become murderers, thieves and any criminal as other people.
Prostitutes are better off than some lawyers, at least prostitutes provide agreed service after taking your money.
Hardly you can find out which lawyer is registered with the Bar Council from its website search engine. Their search engine simply does not work as intended.
Greedy lawyer dashes duo’s dream
By NELSON BENJAMIN
JOHOR BARU: Their dream to own a home here was dashed when a mother and daughter from Singapore allegedly lost more than RM400,000 to a senior lawyer they had engaged to draw up the sales and purchase agreement.
The family suspected something amiss only after paying out a large sum of money to the lawyer without getting any documents on the two-storey house in Bandar Baru Uda which they bought from a fellow Singaporean.
They then met the seller and were shocked when he claimed he only received from the lawyer “a few thousand ringgit” for the house.
The mother and daughter lodged a police report after failing to trace the lawyer, said to be in his 40s, and learning that his law firm in Larkin had closed down.
It is learned that police nabbed the lawyer several days ago and have taken statements from him and several other people in connection with the case, which is being investigated as criminal breach of trust under Section 409 of the Penal Code.
A Bar Council official said the lawyer had not been issued a practising certificate since 2008.
Under the instruction from his real boss, the kangaroo court’s judge has to reverse its earlier decision. Only idiots with IQ as low as 50 will believe there is still a justice in the Malaysia court system.
Yes, this is 1Malaysia justice, the justice only stand up on the bed, not in the court.
Court Reverses Earlier Ruling, Allows Three Exhibits As Evidence
KUALA LUMPUR, March 23 (Bernama) — The High Court on Wednesday reversed its decision by allowing the prosecution’s application to admit three exhibits — a mineral water bottle, a toothbrush and a morning towel — but dismissed a second application to compel Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim to provide samples for DNA comparison.
Justice Datuk Mohamad Zaidin Mohd Diah ruled that when he made his initial decision after a trial-within-a-trial, the court did not have the testimony of investigation officer Supt Judy Blacious Pereira and arresting officer Supt Ahmad Taufik Abdullah, who confirmed that the arrest on July 16, 2008 was lawful.
“I decided to exclude the exhibits since the prosecution could not tender it at that time (during the trial-within-a-trial) and since this application was made after the evidence of the IO to support the prosecution, (I) now agree with their contention that the arrest of the accused was lawful,” ruled Mohamad Zabidin.
On the second application, he said that after looking at the Section 73 and Section 165 of the Evidence Act 1950, there were no provisions for the court to make such an order.
“Both Sections are more about handwritings and fingerprints, and DNA is not included. There is therefore no justification for the court (to make such an order).”
Mohamad Zabidin ordered both the prosecution witnesses, DSP Amidon Anan and chemist Nor Idora Saedon, to be called in as witnesses in tendering the three exibits collected from the cell of the Kuala Lumpur police headquarters where Anwar was detained overnight on July 16, 2008.
On March 8, the High Court allowed the defence’s application to exclude the three items.
Anwar, 63, is charged with sodomising his former aide, Mohd Saiful Bukhari, 25, at the Desa Damansara Condominium in Bukit Damansara between 3.01pm and 4.30pm on June 26, 2008.
I FULLY support KPIs for the court system to expedite the closure of cases (“Bar votes against KPIs” – Sunday Star, March 13).
I was sued by a big local company for domain squatting and the case was pending for eight long years until last June, when the complainant decided to withdraw the charge.
I had to go through eight years of pain and sleepless nights under the no KPI-driven court system. A short and predetermined hearing time is needed for swifter justice for the rakyat.
A no-deadline trial exerts a lot of mental and monetary pressure on the small man, and those with money may abuse the court system by dragging on the case to harass and torture the party with limited financial resources.
The Bar Council should sort out its resources to meet the KPI deadline and not demand “never ending” proceedings to be reinstated.
KHOO NEE KIONG,
