Sawah Ring Tangkak is more picturesque than Sekinchan Selangor

With the legendary Gunung Ledang as its background, Sawah Ring in Tangkak District is more picturesque than Sekinchan Selangor. Selangor Tourism Exco, Elizabeth Wong may be protesting against my assessment, but I invite her to visit Sawah Ring. Besides, Tourism Minister, Ng Yen Yen is also welcomed to see herself that Sawah Ring is worth to be promoted as a natural sighting.

The paddy field is an ideal location for your wedding photography especially in one or two weeks before the harvesting session.

I used to catch fighting fishes and trap small birds in the paddy field during my childhood days. We small kids were allowed to roam freely in the wild by our parents because child kidnapping was an unheard story in 70s.

The water quality in old days was much better than today, those muddy water channels served as free swimming pool and we kids all swum with full nude body like the buffaloes. The buffaloes also being replaced by tractors!

I still do not understand why Sawah Ring is still not included in the Muar travel brochure as a natural sighting and bird watching attraction.

Petaling Street is a third world makeshift shopping place

The number of hawkers should be reduced to make walkway more spacious. A middle row of hawkers should be removed if Petaling Street wanted to be an attractive shopping place for local and foreign tourists.

Besides, more foreign workers or bosses are returned to Petaling Street and 90% of stalls are selling same products.

I will not buy anything from Petaling Street.

Petaling Street hawkers stage protest

By STEVEN DANIEL

KUALA LUMPUR: Some 100 hawkers staged a demonstration at the Petaling Street hawker centre here Tuesday, protesting against the issuance of new stall licences.

They claimed some parties had applied for licences to open new hawker stalls in the area and were concerned this would cause overcrowding.

There are 773 stalls in the area now, and the hawkers claimed the parties had applied for licences for another 100 stalls.

The protest began at 10.30am with the group shouting and holding up placards demanding that Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) cancel all the new applications.

Bukit Bintang MP Fong Kui Lun, who was at the scene, said he would bring up the issue with the mayor Tan Sri Ahmad Fuad Ismail during a meeting Friday.

Penang trishaw riders are beggars like UMNO Malays

Penang trishaw riders look more like drug addicts and beggars. They have no shame to ask for handout like UMNO Malays.

How can Melaka trishaw riders can make good earnings? Because they are more innovative and professional in running business than their Penang counterparts.

Melaka trishaw riders decorated their trishaws and not wearing slippers and dirty shirts. This will give a good impression to tourists.

Besides, Melaka state government put them in a strategic location to lure more customers.

Trishaw riders to get RM100 a month

By HAFIZ MARZUKHI and CHRISTOPHER TAN

GEORGE TOWN: The state government has upped the ante by increasing aid given to trishaw riders to RM100 monthly – RM40 more than the RM60 requested by the Penang Trishaw Riders Association.

The aid, which is double the previous “RM100 every two months” offer, however, comes with a condition – they must attend the George Town Car-free Day every Sunday from 7am until 5pm at selected streets here.

Penang Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng said in a statement yesterday that he had directed State Tourism Development and Culture Committee chairman Danny Law to increase the amount given.

The George Town Car-free Day is expected to kick off at selected streets in George Town every Sunday beginning Dec 11. Only bicycles and trishaws will be allowed in these areas.

“The project does not only seek to promote a healthy and environmentally-friendly lifestyle but also offers trishaw riders a chance to increase their income,” said Lim.

To ensure that only genuine trishaw riders benefit, Lim proposed that the riders register with the Penang Tourism Department.

He also said the riders must be present at an allotted gathering point for a period of time to qualify for RM20 which will be paid weekly.

An extra bonus of RM20 will be paid if they attend every George Town Car-free Day for the month.

Penang Trishaw Riders Association chairman Koay Beng Hong welcomed the increase in aid but declined to elaborate.

“I prefer to view the full details about the conditions and discuss the matter with Law first,” said Koay yesterday.

It was reported on Tuesday that trishaw riders had rejected the RM100 aid every two months offer by the state government as they wanted a monthly payment of RM60 instead.

With the new arrangements, the payout to trishawmen scheduled for yesterday was put off and many who came to collect the money were left disappointed.

Visit Lang Tengah Island befor it's commercialized and polluted like Redang Island

Why I say so?

Radang Island was featured in a Chinese movie at eleven years ago, and the island became an instant magnet and hit for Chinese tourists from China, Taiwan and Hong Kong.

Redang’s sea water visibility could go as far as 200 feet in early 90s and was deemed as a best diving haven in the region before the island was exploited and commercialized for mass tourism.

Now Lang Tengah Island is featured in another love story movie [Love You You] produced by the same producer. I only fast forwarding the movie to have a glimpse on its rustic beach and pristine blue water. The scenery is wow!

Visit the Lang Tengah Island before it’s repeating the same fate of Redang Island when Vincent Tan may build another ugly concrete jetty or airport in the Island.

Cancel the license for this hostel, Reggae Mansion immediately

The Reggae Mansion chain of hostels’ website states that “Reggae Mansion is a hostel for international backpackers. Unfortunately, we do not accept bookings by Malaysian, Indian and Middle Eastern nationals.”

Stir it up: Guests outside Reggae Mansion in Jalan Tun H.S. Lee, Kuala Lumpur. The hostel’s policy of rejecting guests of certain nationalities has caused an uproar among Netizens.

The hostel is following UMNO apartheid policy, and only Malaysia is allowed such racial policy because UMNO is the mother of apartheid.

Malays themselves should feel the pinch also for this kind of racial discrimination policy right in Malaysia which non-Malays have suffered for over 40 years.

Perkasa should demonstrate to lend support to Reggae Mansion for sharing same ideology.
