What the reliable historical source says asam pedas is originated from the Melaka? Asam pedas sour and spicy fish is a common dish found over in Malaysia and Indonesia.

Muar has a special hawker center dedicated to asam pedas at Parit Jawa. Where you can find such center in Melaka?

The state government is keen to patent its popular Asam Pedas dish as an exclusive cuisine originating from the state.

Chief Minister Datuk Idris Haron said effort was ongoing to turn the dish as Malacca’s own recipe.

“I have asked my exco member to prepare all the working paper pertaining to patenting the dish with Intellectual Property Corporation of Malaysia (MyIPO),” he told reporters after the launching of National Intellectual Property Day by Domestic Trade, Cooperative and Consumerism Minister Datuk Hassan Malek at MITC here, recently.

Idris said there was evidence to indicate that the dish originated from Malacca and to claim right to the recipe.
