EC, do not hide behind the king, the rakyat have constitutional rights to express their opinion against incompetency and unprofessional conducts in the election commission.

WAN AHMAD: EC panel members could not be removed except by a tribunal

ELECTION Commission (EC) deputy chairman Datuk Wan Ahmad Wan Omar said those calling for the resignation of its chairman Tan Sri Abdul Aziz Yusof and himself are insulting the King.

“Such calls are not appropriate, they do not respect the constitution and do not respect the Agong as their appointee. “Policy decisions in the EC are made collectively. So it is also insulting to the other panel members,” said Wan Ahmad.

He said EC panel members could not be removed except by a tribunal but could resign by writing a letter to the King.

Wan Ahmad also chastised those who had criticised the announcement by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak that the commission would soon report to a Parliamentary Select Committee (PSC) instead of the Prime Minister’s Office.
