Jakim, what make a parent converted to Muslim has more say than another non-Muslim parent?

If a parent disagrees with another parant on their children conversion to a new religion, then who has more say on this matter?

I am fully support Cabinet’s decision that the religion of children shall be as at the point of a couple marriaged until they reach 18 years to make their own decision. They are many cases, people abused Islam to get rid of their own responsibility.

PUTRAJAYA, April 24 (Bernama) — To determine the religious status of a child when a parent converted to Islam, one has to look at the Islamic as well as the existing Malaysian laws, said the Department of Islamic Development Malaysia (Jakim) Friday.

Its director-general, Datuk Wan Mohamad Sheikh Abdul Aziz, said that under Article 12(4) of the Federal Constitution, the religion of a person under the age of 18 years shall be decided by his parent or guardian.
