KUALA LUMPUR: It was cheers all around as the face of Chinatown in Petaling Street will remain despite the construction of the MY Rapid Transit (MRT).
The 31 shophouses along Jalan Sultan would not be torn down, said MCA president Datuk Seri Dr Chua Soi Lek.
He added that the decision not to demolish the buildings was important to maintain the identity of Chinatown.
