13 years late datukship for two Indian climbers

M. Magendran and N. Mohanadas, you both have to wait for 13 years for your rightful datukship unlike another bumi hero who failed to sail around the world.

My theory is you both are not bumiputeras, therefore not qualified to be recommended for datukship by BN government.

GEORGE TOWN (July 10, 2010): Thirteen years after they become the first Malaysians to scale Mount Everest, the world’s highest peak, M. Magendran and N. Mohanadas were today (10 July 2010) conferred with the title ‘Datuk’ by the Penang Yang diPertua Negri.

The duo, who planted the Jalur Gemilang on the summit of the 8,848m mountain on May 23, 1997, were each decorated with the Darjah Setia Pangkuan Negeri (DSPN) by Tun Abdul Rahman Abbas in conjunction with the latter’s birthday celebrations at the Dewan Seri Pinang here.
