Miri police chief was so pathetic for giving out rhetoric answer to inquiry on whether the thugs are armed. The thugs even brought explosives with them as reported in the media.

Land dispute leads to clash between thugs and villagers

MIRI: Police intervened and prevented what could have been a bloody confrontation between a group of thugs and villagers in a land dispute in Ulu Niah, some 130km from here.

It is believed that the police have arrested the thugs who allegedly threatened the longhouse folk.

Miri police chief Assistant Commissioner Jamaluddin Ibrahim yesterday declined to provide details of the case, but confirmed that the police had received a report about the incident.

“I cannot give comments at the moment because we are still investigating the case. This is a land dispute case between the natives and a company. The case is sensitive,” he said.

Asked if it was true that the thugs were armed, he said he could not give details about it.

Bintulu MP Datuk Seri Tiong King Sing yesterday afternoon rushed to the scene to meet the longhouse folk after the police had gone in.
